Local Profiles
Google My Business is the biggest directory profile that you’ll need to have, but don’t forget about Yelp, Bing, Apple, and Facebook. These directories use geo-location tools to help their customers find services near them. In each one of the profiles, make sure you are maxing out the description area with keywords and services. Take advantage of Google’s services and product offerings area.
Business Address
It’s harder to compete in local search if you don’t have a brick-and-mortar that can be verified by bots or people. With this address, you’ll have to pin-point the exact area that you serve. If you serve a wide location, it may be best to start in one locale nearest your shop before expanding your service area. Showing that you do work in one town vs the 10 surrounding towns makes you more focused in the search results.
Website
Google has pointed out that one of their ranking factors for local SEO is website SEO. If your website shows up in more locations, then your local profiles will be more likely to show up. Make sure your website matches the same services and keywords that your local profiles have to offer. There’s a lot to SEO and it can be a very deep rabbit hole. Try to stay focused on key pages such as one page per service that you offer with a nice long description of that service with pictures.
More Content Than Competitors
SEO is incredibly easy to do when you are the only competitor in the space. First place goes to the only person in the race! When there are many competitors in the space, the one who follows Google guidelines the best is going to be the one who gets first place. To show up more often in local search results, Google wants you to add pictures, get reviews, and “add updates” to your profile consistently. Those who post more will be rewarded.
